TV sizes
TV size comparison
How is a TV measured? The inch size is the diagonal across the screen (not the width), and 1 inch = 2.54 cm. So a 65″ TV has a diagonal of 65 × 2.54 = 165 cm. Drag the pink screen over the purple one to compare.
Find the right TV size
Compare TV screen sizes visually and see the real dimensions of each size in your room. Screen size is measured diagonally, but the width and height are what actually fit on your wall.
It answers questions like 'how big is a 55-inch TV', 'what size TV should I get' and 'is a 65-inch TV too big' — TVs are drawn to actual scale, with the real width and height behind every diagonal. Compare how it'll look on your wall before you buy, and use your viewing distance as the rule of thumb.
Good to know
- A 55-inch TV is about 121 cm wide and 68 cm tall.
- TV sizes are always measured diagonally.
- For a 3-meter viewing distance, 55–65 inches is often ideal.
How it works
- 1Pick the TV sizes you want to compare.
- 2The TVs are drawn to scale next to each other.
- 3See width, height and screen area for each size.
- 4Use your viewing distance as a rule of thumb for the right size.
